NFL Is Back: First Monday Night Football Match-Ups of the Year

A Monday Night doubleheader: Vikings vs Saints (00:10 GMT) and the Chargers vs Broncos (3:20 GMT)

The first Monday Night Football games are set to kick-off tonight, following an incredible opening weekend of NFL action. Tonight we will be treated to two games featuring the Minnesota Vikings hosting to New Orleans to take on the Saints, followed by the LA Chargers against the Denver Broncos. Both games are highly-anticipated fans on all sides are ready for action.

Vikings vs Saints

The Vikings went through the preseason at 2-2 and look to start the new year much the same as they did last year. They were the last team to lose a game, after a 5-0 start and after making changes to their roster they look like they could be a contender. The Saints also have a strong team this year and if the Vikings are to be successful they will need to do good work to stop the run, get a fast start on offense, put pressure on Drew Brees, win field position and hold on to the ball, and their offensive line needs to gain early momentum. If they can do these six things it should be all but over.

The night will be electric, especially because longtime star running back for the Vikings, Adrian Peterson will be making a return to Minneapolis, but for the Saints! That's right, Peterson is now playing for New Orleans and it could make for a tough night.

Betting odds surrounding the Vikings' home opener are in favor of the home side with bet365 Sports posting odds of 1.62. If the Saints are to win, they will need to overcome odds against them at 2.40. bet365 Sports is offering 222 betting markets ahead of the match.

Chargers vs Broncos

A huge match in the AFC West will be played at Sports Authority Field in Denver, Colorado. The division promises to be one of the toughest in the entire league this year and a Week 1 win for either team will put them in line with the Raiders and the Chiefs whom both won their season openers.

The Broncos has a star-studded roster including arguably the best defensive player in the NFL in Von Miller. Miller has the ability to throw any offense off by himself and even if the Chargers' Offensive Line can contain him, they will need to deal with Shaquil Barrett and Derek Wolfe respectively. The Broncos pass rush is the best in the business and it will probably mean a painful day for QB Philip Rivers.

Monday Night Betting

The Broncos are obvious favorites going into their opener but do not count out the Chargers just yet. bet365 Sports has posted in favor of Denver at 1.64, whilst the Chargers are at 2.35 respectively.

Both games tonight feature Live In Play betting markets, which is the most interactive way to bet on the NFL all season long.
