NFL Odds: Will the Falcons Clench a Playoff Berth?Published December 28, 2014 by Sol FH
The last week of the NFL 2014 regular season kicks-off tonight and the main game to watch out for has to be the Panthers vs Falcons at 21:25 (UK).
It has been a wild regular season in the NFL this year and the playoff picture is almost a done deal. There are still four teams in the running for the final spots in the 2014/15 playoffs including the Ravens, Texans, Chiefs and Falcons, and they are all in action tonight. The only team still not guaranteed a playoff spot in the NFC is the Falcons and they face the Carolina Panthers tonight in Atlanta.
The Falcons knocked the Saints out last week with a huge 30-14 upset, while on-the-road. The Panthers currently sit in first place in the NFC South, with the Falcons nipping at their heels and after tonight’s game, we will know if Atlanta will be in the playoffs this year.
The Panthers are the better team on Defense, but the Falcons, led by Matt Ryan at the QB position are flying high after last week and could pose quite a threat at the Georgia Dome tonight. Three of the last four games between these two teams were decided by two points or less, so it’s obvious that the game will be a nail-biter throughout all four quarters.
Keys to Victory
The Falcons must stop the run tonight, as the Panthers are looking like one of the best rush-teams in the late stages of the regular season. Back in Week 11, the Falcons beat the Panthers 19-17 and they hope to bring it yet again with the help of their home-field advantage tonight.
The Falcons high-powered passing game has been incredible to watch all season long. Matt Ryan has 4,434 yards and 28 Touchdowns going into Week 17 and he will most-definitely be on his A-game at home tonight.
