NHL Betting: Washington Capitals vs. Ottawa SenatorsPublished March 22, 2016 by Sol FH
The Ottawa Senators host the league leading Washington Capitals at 23:30 GMT.
No it is not yet time for the Olympics or another international sporting event, rather a NHL highlight match-up between the capital of the United States (Washington) and the capital of Canada (Ottawa) hockey teams facing off at Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata, Ontario. Tonight is a really big night for the US-based Capitals, as they have yet another chance to secure first place in the Metropolitan Division, after already being the first NHL team to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Led by the best Forward in the NHL, Alex Ovechkin, the Capitals are on a tear, already with 107 points and a total of 51 wins so far this season. The Capitals have already defeated the Senators twice this season, both times at Verizon Center. The Capitals failed to qualify for top spot in the Metropolitan, after losing a big game to the Penguins 6-2 on Sunday. Goalie Braden Holtby remains just five wins back of tying Martin Brodeur's win record of 48 in a single season, but he was pulled in the third period against the Penguins.
The Senators will stay with the same lines that they played against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night. The team shutout the Canadiens 5-0 and scored three shorthanded goals. The Senators remain in the race for a playoff spot, but their chances are slim and they must start a winning streak tonight, and take that momentum with them in the last few games of the regular season.
Having big games from Forward Alex Chiasson, (goals in back-to-back games), Forwards Mika Zibanejad and Mike Hoffman (both four game point streaks), is a must. The Senators must beat the Capitals, which is very possible, as the Caps have already qualified for the playoffs.
