NYX to Release Psycho Slot in 2015

Psycho was years ahead of its time when it was released in 1960. To this very day, movie directors draw inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock’s seminal classic. In fact, it would seem that Psycho is even serving as inspiration for casino software developers. As announced on Monday 12 January, NextGen Gaming is creating a Psycho slot under license from Universal.

From its Sydney-based studio in Australia, NextGen Gaming acts as the content development arm of NYX Gaming Group. Once the Psycho slot has been created, NYX will act as the distributor. The game will be made available during the first quarter of 2015 on NYX’s trademarked OGS platform.

Coming to NYX OGS Platform

Speaking for NYX, commercial director David Johnston was understandably excited to have acquired the licensing for Psycho. Describing it as a true thriller, Johnston believes that “Psycho’s infamous scenes married with NextGen’s proven premium, repeat play slots expertise will make for a chilling winter blockbuster title.”

The comments of Johnston also explained that the Psycho slot would be an exclusive for NYX OGS partners. However, there is the potential for a wider release later in the slot’s life. For 2015, though, players will need to go to NYX OGS sites for access.

Movie Trend Continues

For a few years now, casino software developers have been turning to Hollywood movies for licenses to develop video slots based on this form of intellectual property. While the focus is often on more recent movies, such as those developed by Marvel, there are many classic titles that also feature.
