Odds for Sunday Night Football's Patriots vs Vikings

The New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings do not have one of those NFL rivalries with many years of history.  In fact, they have met one another only 11 times in regular season play with the Patriots winning seven and losing only four.  The Vikings however do own the 'points for' race with 237 as opposed to the Patriots 230.  The last time the Patriots won in Minnesota was in 2006, in which they destroyed the Vikings 31-7.  Tonight could be a different sort of game with the Vikings looking incredibly strong after their week one domination over the Rams 34-6, while the Patriots lost to the Dolphins 33-20.

Tom Brady has never lost to the Vikings and has gone on record in the past to say that their Defense was, "not worth a damn against the pass."  Matt Cassel, the Vikings current Quarterback used to play for the Patriots, memorably coming in for Brady after he was injured back in 2008.  Cassel played a solid game in week one, throwing for 170 yards and two touchdowns but the Rams were able to limit Minnesota's star back Adrian Peterson to only 75 rush yards.  It was Cordarelle Patterson having the dream game against the Rams running for 102 yards on only three carries including a 67-yard TD run and an additional two scores to end the day with three.

Keys to Victory

If the Patriots are to leave the Metrodome with the win they will need to shut down the Minnesota rush and limit Cassel through the air.  The Vikings run defense is all but unstoppable but they will need to up their pass defense against Tom Brady.  New England needs to get back into things if they do not want to start the season 0-2.
