William Hill Sportsbook took over £200,000 worth of bets in the leadup to the royal baby's birth. We now know it is a boy, but speculation remains about what name Kate and William will bestow on the future king.

Kate gave birth to a son on Sunday afternoon, defying the odds and the wishes of a majority of William Hill punters who were convinced by reports that a future princess was on the way. However, some punters took their gambles on a boy, including one from Austria who had staked £1000 at 11/10 on the arrival of a son.
According to Hill, the amount of interest they saw in the royal baby has been "astounding", with over £200,000 worth of bets from more than 100 countries. For a market of this nature, they said, "those figures are beyond anything we could ever have imagined."
