Microgaming has purchased a VeinViewer for Noble's Hospital, resulting in less painful treatment.
Microgaming, the world's largest provider of online gaming software, providing its much respected services to over 400 online gaming brands, has announced that it has purchased a VeinViewer for the Pediatric Ward at Noble's Hospital
For those of you who don't know, a Veinviewer is a non-invasive (meaning it does not enter the body) piece of infra-red medical equipment that illuminates (that is, allows one to see) a map of a person's veins on the skin surface.
Benefits
What are the benefits of such a device? First off, the taking of blood is a very common experience. And for some, quite upsetting. Many of you know what it is like to have a nurse or a doctor "search for a vein," to stick a needle into you, and to not have much luck. This is especially true with certain body types (especially in the very young) whose veins are difficult to penetrate due to the inability to see them clearly on the surface.
A New Era
As a result of this new and improved visibility, the VeinViewer can help to avoid multiple attempts at vein puncture and the subsequent hematoma (blood bruise). This results in a direct reduction of pain and distress in patients during the procedure.
This is of particular benefit when utilized in a Pediatrics ward (Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the medical care of infants, children and adolescents).
Now for the first time, Noble's Hospital Children's Ward has access to this state of the art equipment, all made possible by Microgaming Health & Care Trust.
