Player volumes at online poker sites have increased by 5% during the first week of October 2013. This encouraging news was reported by 9 out of 10 leading online poker rooms. This is now the single biggest increase since PokerStars launched its Road to 100 Billion promo back in June 2013.
Top 10 Poker Sites Holding Strong
All but one of the top 10 poker sites enjoyed an increase in traffic during the first week in October. Winamax moved into 8 th slot and pushed Bodog into 9 th position on the chart. In trying to ascertain the reasons for the increase, cooler weather across Europe was cited.
Another reason, arguably the biggest motivator, was the online poker enthusiasm across the US. Two of the US's biggest online poker providers - WSOP.com and Ultimate Poker - are battling for pole position.
In Nevada, a Sunday cash game featured 192 players at one time - a record for the online poker room.
Big Names Record Big Rises
PartyPoker has rebounded off weak September figures. A major cash game held at PartyPoker generated an increase in traffic of 10%. Other big industry players are Full Tilt Poker and 888poker in 3 rd place.
In spite of the 5% spike this month, online poker gaming is down 9% from the same time in 2012. Operators are looking to entice more casual players into the fold to arrest any further declines.
