Oscars Deliver Plenty of Betting Options

The 85th Academy Awards are set to take place in Los Angeles next Sunday, which leaves just a week to rush into your favorite online sportsbook and place a wager on some of the results.

This year's Oscars are set to attract a big audience around the world, with a number of top films making it particularly difficult to predict results. Actor Seth McFarlane will host the Academy Awards for the first time, and this year also marked the first time since 1973 (under Charlton Heston) when the ceremony's host announced the nominations.

Lincoln, the epic two-and-a-half hour movie based on the life of the assassinated president, led the nominations with twelve, followed by Life of Pi, with eleven. One film which surprisingly attracted little attention was James Bond's Skyfall, although that hasn't stopped it from figuring in the odds.

William Hill betting

William Hill offers the following odds for best picture: Argo, 1/6, Lincoln, 4/1; Life of Pi, Silver Linings Playbook, 40/1, Les Miserables, 50/1, Django Unchained, 66/1, Zero Dark Thirty, 80/1, Amour, Beasts of the Southern Wild, both listed as 100/1 outsiders.

Other betting options include: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song - led by Adele's Skyfall, at 1/9. Bond fans can also place a wager on whether all 007 actors (George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig ) appear on stage for the series' 50 th anniversary presentation.
