Online gaming developer Playtech reports revenue surge, poker drop.
Playtech, one of the world's two leading developers of online gambling software, reported this week that it has experience a massive surge in revenues, even when accounting for a drop in its online poker operations.
Playtech SurgingPlaytech CEO Mor Weizer called the company's first half performance for 2012 "every encouraging", as it posted gross income of 88.1 million euros for the second quarter, a 99% increase on last year. The only negative spot was its poker division, which slipped to 4.4 million euros, 12% down from the corresponding period last year.
Although Playtech anticipates a seasonal slowdown during the traditionally weaker months of the northern hemisphere summer, it remains confident that it is well positioned to maintain the strong momentum of the first half of this year into the remaining part of 2012, Weizer said.
