Playtech Soars into the Netherlands Market in Ambitious New Deal with Holland Casino

The diversification of both parties in the Playtech-Holland Casino deal is large-scale indeed.
A major private name has booked entry into the long-awaited and highly promising Netherlands market.
The Deal
Gambling tech giant Playtech has offered the weight of its global brand to the Dutch market in a new long-term software and service agreement with the Netherlands' state-owned casino monopoly operator Holland Casino, the purveyor of 14 land-based gaming venues on Dutch soil.
Legislation Progress
After announcing April 1st that the first licences would be issued via The Remote Gambling Act for the market opening October 1st, Dutch Gaming Authority Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) updated on April 19th that 28 license applications had already been received.
Playtech's Helpful NL Presence
As a tech provider, the Isle of Man-headquartered Playtech's entry opens the door for many more front end operators to move into the market seamlessly.
Services Playtech Will Provide
The agreement makes Playtech the strategic technology supplier Holland Casino, with Playtech providing its comprehensive multichannel technology as well as “certain ancillary services.”
Holland Casino Integration
Holland Casino will integrate by the Playtech solutions within Holland Casino's prevailing IMS (information management solution) platform to support Holland Casino's full suite of offerings, which includes sports betting, online casino, live casino, poker and bingo. Playtech technology will further boost “certain operational and marketing services” which are not yet specified but clearly will be revealed as soon as the market opens.
Playtech's Land-Based Project
A further revelation of the deals is the Playtech land-based project--a live casino facility currently under construction in the “immediate vicinity” of one of Holland Casino’s 14 existing physical locations.
Holland Casino Leader Speaks
Commenting his company's foray into the online market, Holland Casino CEO Erwin van Lambaart lauded Playtech for “the track record and necessary scale to deliver industry leading software, marketing and responsible gambling tools.”
CEO van Lambaart further looked forward to “a long and successful cooperation with Playtech as we work together to capture this exciting opportunity” which the new online NL iGaming market represents.
Outlook
With Holland Casino going online and Playtech going to land for the first time in a long-awaited EU economic power market, and the deal paving the way for more private operators to use Playtech tech supplies in the NL market, this is truly a landmark deal for the industry.
