The Detroit Tigers have become the pioneers in a sense, paving the way for additional partnerships with teams in the MLB. The agreement will begin with the 2020 regular season.
Marketing, Branding, and Additional Content
PointsBet was already an authorized gaming operator of the league which granted it access to official MLB data as well as the right to use trademarks and logos of the league with its products. The agreement with the MLB has made it possible for the bookmaker to sign a deal with the Detroit Tigers and take the team to new heights. They will grow fan engagement, creating unique experiences, promotional offers, and additional interactive content in and around Comerica Park.
As agreed in the deal, PointsBet will have its branding placed at Comerica Park in visible areas during games and will be featured on the Tigers' Radio Network. Moreover, the bookmaker will be present on the Tigers’ digital platforms and will regularly be featured on the live streaming show. Finally, PointsBet will be integrated into both of the Tiger apps.
Chris Granger, Group President, Sports & Entertainment, Ilitch Holdings, Inc., related, “We are thrilled to welcome PointsBet as a gaming partner of the Detroit Tigers. Our incredible fans will love the unique experiences and innovative offerings that PointsBet’s personalized platform provides. We look forward to the fan-friendly enhancements this will bring to the game-day experience in and around Comerica Park for years to come.”
Johnny Aitken, CEO, PointsBet USA also related, “The PointsBet team is excited to announce our groundbreaking deal with the Detroit Tigers and Major League Baseball, becoming the first legal sports betting operator in U.S. history to partner with an MLB franchise… We offer the most betting options in the world on MLB games via our unique PointsBetting product, and we are excited to inject a unique and robust betting proposition into the great state of Michigan.”
PointsBet entered the Michigan sports betting industry after the state moved to legalize and regulate it in 2019, through a deal with Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, which gave PointsBet access to unroll their mobile and desktop apps, as well as a branded product for the tribe.
