Premier League Action: West Ham vs Manchester City
Published February 1, 2017 by Sol FH
London Stadium comes alive tonight at 19:45 GMT as West Ham hosts City to complete Matchday 23.
West Ham have gone down to Man. City twice already this season. The first back on August 28 at Etihad with a 3-1 loss in the Premier League and the second time just weeks ago, a 5-0 thrashing at London Stadium in the FA Cup. This was the biggest loss at home in 50 years. Clearly, West Ham have a problem against City, but the Hammers have won five of their last seven matches against top-flight teams so there is always hope.
City are in fifth place in the league with 43 points and are basically in the identical position they were at the same time last year. In fact, they faced West Ham away on Matchday 23 last year, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Andy Carroll has proven to be the one player that can get through the tough City defense having scored 5 goals against them in his career. He will need to play an important role tonight if West Ham is to win.
Making things even harder for the Hammers, both Havard Nordtveit and Cheikho Kouyate will not play. Nordtveit is out due to injury, while Kouyate is just back following his home country Senegals' loss to Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Manchester City have a healthy squad to choose from and Fernandinho is eligible after serving his ban out.
Prediction and Betting Markets
Even though West Ham are improving it seems like a good bet to make would be a victory by the visitors tonight. Man City have been inconsistent for the last few weeks but they are too good for West Ham.
Bet365 Sports posted odds in favor of City at 1.57, while West Ham are well behind at 6.00. A draw has also got great potential payout at 4.50. As always, bet365 Sports will be offering live in play betting for all bettors looking for an exciting interactive wager.
