Premier League: Man. City Look to Lock up 3rd Spot on the Table
Published May 16, 2017 by Sol FH
Man. City vs West Brom tonight at City of Manchester Stadium and the action kicks-off at 20:00 GMT.
With only one week remaining in the Premier League season there is a battle for third place in the league between Man. City and Liverpool. Man. City are just one point behind the Reds with the chance to go two points up if they beat West Brom tonight at Manchester Stadium. Anything other than a win tonight would be an absolute failure, but playing against West Brom at home should be an easy win for City just one week away from their final match of the year against Watford.
West Brom's 8th place standing is in jeopardy tonight after holding position therein for so long. Tony Pulis knows that they could end up as low as 11th spot when all is said and done, but he is confident that his team will be able to do a bit better than their last meeting with City. That match was in October of 2016 and City trounced Albion 0-4 away.
West Brom will be without some key players tonight. Matt Phillips is still injured with a hamstring issue, but Hal Robson-Kanu may be fit enough to play after suffering a similar injury. Gareth McAuley will not play after a thigh injury took him out of last week's loss to Chelsea.
City will only be without Fabian Delph, but Pep Guardiola has set his mind on winning tonight and taking over 3rd place with a confident win.
City have won their last ten matches against West Brom and score many goals when they play the Baggies. Guardiola will be looking for a similar result as their first match against them and will be pushing for early, and frequent goal scoring from his forward's.
