Premier League Preview: Leeds Vs. Crystal Palace
Published February 8, 2021 by Sol FH
Leeds without Rodrigo and Ian Poveda for tonight's match vs. Crystal Palace tonight at 20:00 GMT.
This is a big mid-table matchup between Leeds (11th) and Crystal Palace (13th). Across their last five trips to Elland Road, the Eagles have lost, in all competitions. If Crystal Palace can pull out a win tonight, it would be the first time they have won a league double over the Whites since the 1985-86 regular season. Leeds has beaten Crystal Palace in eight of their last ten matches in all competitions, with two draws.
It has been tough going for Leeds over the last six matches, losing four, with only two wins. They are in serious danger of losing three matches in-a-row at home for the first time since October 2017. They have not been able to beat teams that are ranked higher than them on the table, at home.
Their top scorer, Patrick Bamford has 11 goals in 21 Premier League matches for Leeds, with another five assists.
Although ranked lower, Crystal Palace has been on a streak and is now looking to make it three wins in-a-row. They have lost just two games over their last seven league fixtures, winning three matches with two draws.
It has been a rough run for Monday league games as the Eagles have lost on six occasions and drawn twice this season.
Crystal Palace will need to find a way to win without their top scorer Wilfried Zaha who suffered a hamstring injury at Newcastle midweek and will not play tonight. Their new signing, Jean-Philippe Mateta, is available and could be on the pitch tonight.
