Q1 Profits Soar at Ceasars Interactive

Caesars Interactive, which recently bought social gaming company Pacific Interactive and real-money sites in Nevada and New Jersey saw its first quarter revenues leap by 82% compared with twelve months ago. These outstanding year-on-year results cemented Caesars position as the world's premier social gaming operator.

Strong Performance

There were many pointers of a strong performance in Q1. Following February's acquisition of Pacific Interactive, revenues grew by $124.2m as it activated a very timely jump in the number of people accessing Caesar's mobile and social platforms. The company saw a jump in the average number of daily users, up 10% from 5.2m to 5.7m as a useful like-on-like comparison for 2013.

Mitch Garber, the Caesars Interactive CEO was bullish and direct about the company's immediate vision. He said that it intends to continue being "aggressively acquisitive in the social and mobile space". With results like these and with the additional acquisition of four social gaming studios it's very straightforward to see why.

Real Money Alternatives

Caesars has not sat on its social gaming laurels but has determinedly targeted success in Nevada through the WSOP.com real-money poker platform. It has also challenged Borgata in New Jersey with its casino and poker sites.

Garber also believed that Caesars is in an excellent position to challenge for top dog status in these (for it) newer markets. There were associated start-up costs that ate into the company's profits, an important factor in considering their performance. That doesn't mean that he is in any way blasé or underestimating the competition; "...there is still a lot of work to be done to get all of the people in New Jersey who could be and should be customers to know this activity exists", he said.

The next step for the company is to continue adding game content, new features to existing platforms as well as launching mobile applications.
