Real Madrid Chases First La Liga Win Against Real Sociedad

Real Madrid and Real Sociedad lock horns in La Liga opener (7:15 p.m UK Time).

Real Madrid had plenty of time to rest its best players after the International Champions Cup has ended. The Super Cup against Sevilla was a thrilling match that they won in dramatic fashion. After testing their players against formidable opponents, the Champions League winners prepare for the first La Liga match. They will travel to Real Sociedad to face a team that defeated them at home last season.

Cristiano Ronaldo Doubtful for This Fixture

Real Madrid had some of its best players on the pitch against Sevilla, but their brightest star was missing. Without Cristiano Ronaldo, they still found the way to create multiple scoring situations and push the game into overtime. They won’t have the luxury against Real Sociedad, so they need to score all the goals in regulation time. That’s why the starting formation will feature three strikers, including Alvaro Morata.

The Spanish player failed to score against Sevilla and was replaced by Benzema but he’s expected to return. Bale was also mending an injury and didn’t even sit on the reserve bank for the Super Cup. With him and Cristiano Ronaldo back in the starting formation, Real Madrid would be impossible to stop.

Disappointing Friendly Games for Sociedad

Real Sociedad has played four friendly games in August, but failed to win any of them. They scored a combined two goals and were shut down on two occasions, something that doesn’t bode well ahead of this fixture. They will have home pitch advantage in this match, but are expected to play like a team happy to settle for one point.

The odds are not spectacular if you want to bet on Real Madrid to win on the road. bet365 Sports offers the best value at 7/10. Punters would be wise to place a bet before the odds slip even further.
