Responsible Gambling Trust Protects iGaming players

RGT is the body through which all for-profit providers come together to protect against gambling addiction.

Gambling is not just about having fun.

Responsible Gambling

It is also about behaving responsibly, and the entire online gaming community are equal stakeholders in this process. Including providers.

RGT

A leading organization devoted to protection of the industry and the consumers from harm is Responsible Gambling Trust (RGT), a UK charity committed to minimizing gambling-related harm.

Funded by donations from the gambling industry, the goal of the organization is to

prevent people getting into gambling problems with their gambling by providing fast, effective treatment and support that is easy to access.

The RGT raises a minimum of £5 million each year from the UK gambling industry for research, education, prevention and treatment services. Allocation of funds is shepherded by the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board (RGSB) and endorsed by the Gambling Commission, with the current strategy last updated in 2012.

Protective Network

RGT, RGSB, and the UK Gambling Commission cooperate in a collaboration delineated

according to a so-called “assurance and governance framework” published in August 2012 prioritizing openness, transparency and partnership to deliver results.

At this point, the next task facing RGT is generating and instilling widespread industry trust and credibility in an industry-funded body.

To this end, the Government, the Gambling Commission and the RGSB have been invited to observe RGT board and committee meetings. Further, RGT will publish details of how its donated funds will be distributed annually according to a RGSB's rolling three-year strategy currently endorsed by the Gambling Commission.

Provider Cooperation

A key part of the active implementation of the goals is the cooperation of online gaming providers. Display of the RGT stamp on the bottom of the home pages of such provider giants as 888 casino, Winner casino and Leo Vegas position RGT as a preventative self-help resource alongside all other company sponsors. Further measures include Gamble Aware pages and backlinks on each provider site as well as specific reporting of monthly donations to RGT and other problem gambling support organizations, such as Leo Vegas does.
