Review: Temple of Tut Slot from JFTW and Microgaming

Elana K. - May 11, 2018

Temple of Tut, from JFTW and Microgaming, tackles a theme that’s already been widely covered in the world of slots - Ancient Egypt - and it doesn't really add anything that hasn't been done before.

Temple of Tut is the latest slot game from the recently partnered Just For The Win (JFTW) and Microgaming; unfortunately, with big names like these, expectations run high, and Temple of Tut falls sadly short.

Not that it’s a terrible game - there are Super Reels and Free Spins that keep you are your toes - but we just expected something a little bit more impressive from the boutique developer JFTW and world-leading software provider, Microgaming.

A Not-So-New-Take On an Old Theme

Temple of Tut tackles a theme that’s already been widely covered in the world of slots - Ancient Egypt - and it doesn't really add anything that hasn't been done before. Though this slot isn’t over-heavy on Egyptian relics and symbols; it features 3 modern-looking adventurers on the reels, in addition to a pharaoh’s head, a scarab, and a few other gold objects. The soundtrack too is reminiscent of Ancient Egypt but doesn’t hit you in the face with it.

Slot Specs

Temple of Tut is a 5-reel, 10-payline slot that’s playable on all devices. Bets range from $.10 to $250, making it suitable for a wide range of players. In the base game, when 5 female adventurers form a combination on an active payline, you can win up to $6,250.

Super Reels Feature

The Wild symbol is only on the reels during the Super Reels Feature, which is randomly triggered during the base game. During this feature, anywhere between 1 to 5 reels become Super Reels, which means they can display all symbols, including wilds, and will contain 50% stacked wilds as well.

Free Spins Feature

When 3 or more Free Spins scatters land anywhere on the reels, the Free Spins Feature will be triggered. You can win 8, 15, or 30 free spins, depending on how many scatters land. When the Super Reels Feature is applied to each free spin, wilds can appear on all the reels.

During your free spins, if you get 2 or more Free Spins symbols on the reels, you can win even more free spins, with up to 60 up for grabs in total.

Bottom Line

JFTW/Microgaming’s Temple of Tut is not the most exciting Egypt-themed slot you can find, and the gameplay is fairly straightforward with few surprises. However, the graphics are clear and crisp, the gameplay is smooth, and there are a few special features that may make the game worth your while. Look for it at Microgaming online casinos.
