To say that Roger Federer is having a good season this year would be a big understatement. The 35-year old Tennis God, and arguably the best player ever to play the game is on fire in big events and could continue with his winning ways at the ATP Miami. Federer won the first Grand Slam event of the year back in January, as he beat Nadal at the Australian Open, and beat him yet again in the Final at the BNP Paripas Open at Indian Wells at the beginning of this month. Now, poised to make it to yet another major event, Federer faces Tomas Berdych in the ATP Miami quarterfinal and looks like yet another rematch with Spaniard Nadal in the Finals could be a real possibility.
Roger Federer and Tomas Berdych have met 23 times in their long history against one another. Federer leads the rivalry 17-6 and is coming off a big straight-sets victory against Roberto Bautista Agut that only took 26 games to decide. He was incredible and won 89 percent of his first serve points. It was the toughest match of the tournament so far for him, but he made it through without working very hard at all.
Tomas Berdych has also seemingly had a better season than the last few years. The 31-year old player from Monaco looks like he is becoming more consistent in his play and his win over Adrian Mannarino, was also done in virtually no time with 21 games being played. Berdych has not dropped a set so far in Miami and already has two wins over players ranked in the top ten this year. But playing against Federer will be be a very, very difficult and Berdych is not expected to win.
