Scientific Games Takes Relationship with Portugal Lottery to the Next Level

Scientific is setting new standards for Lottery, as exemplified in a bold new deal in Portugal.
An intriguing deal with private operator Las Vegas-based Scientific Games enriches the social component via a three-year arrangement with Portugal’s National Lottery.
New Deal
The new instant games contract deal represents the next level of the relationship Scientific Games maintains with Portuguese charitable organisation Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa SCML.
Portugal's Lottery
Lisbon-based SCML serves as the national lottery and retail betting operator in Portugal as Europe's fourth largest operator. Overseen by Portugal's Ministry of Social Affairs (Ministério do Trabalho, Solidariedade e Segurança Social), the project has risen to the Top 20 performing lotteries worldwide, with the Lottery’s instant games earning a reported $1.9 billion (USD) in retail sales annually.
New Capabilities
The new three-year agreement elevates Scientific Games to status of exclusive instant games supplier in Portugal, enabling players in Portugal to access Scientific's portfolio of innovative lottery content.

Partnership History
This partnership has a multi-variegated enriched history: originally fomented in 1995, the partnership was launched in concert with the launch of Portuguese national lottery launched.
The way Scientific originally got involved via legacy companies, through which Scientific Games began providing the first popular suite of games called RASPADINHA to SCML, as the beginning of decades of fruitful relations and success.

In an official press release Scientific Games Senior Vice President of Instant Products for Scientific Games John Schulz looked forward to the arrangement expanding “our longtime, successful relationship with SCML in Portugal to continue the Lottery’s growth by offering exciting instant game entertainment to Portuguese players while responsibly generating maximum proceeds for the Lottery’s charitable cause.”
Outlook
This Scientific-SCML deal looks like one of the most ambitious mainstreaming of social initiatives with a major private operator that the iGaming sector has seen, and should lead to further effective reinvestment of iGaming proceeds in society in Portugal and in other EU jurisdictions.
