Serie A: AS Roma Takes on Fading Inter MilanPublished March 19, 2016 by Florin P
The race for the Champions League continues in Serie A (7:45 p.m UK Time).
AS Roma won 8 games in a row in Serie A but unfortunately these victories came too late for them to challenge Juventus for the lead. Their chances of winning the trophy this year are slim to none, but the Romans can still hope to secure a Champions League berth. After defeating Fiorentina, they can wrap things up by winning at home against Inter Milan, a team struggling heavily on the road.
One Step Away from the Champions League
The team finishing in the third-place will have to go through qualifiers to secure a presence in the most important European competition. This shouldn’t be a problem for AS Roma though and the real challenge is to actually finish on the Serie A podium. They have the advantage of playing a very important game in front of their fans and need to make the most of this opportunity.
AS Roma have an impressive roster and by rotating key players, they managed to avoid injuries. Offensive football has served them well in 2016 and over the last two months, they scored an average of more than two goals per match both at home and on the road.
All Eyes on Icardi
Inter Milan has squandered plenty of valuable points this year and the recent resurgence is very likely to prove insufficient. Icardi is their best scorer but unfortunately for the visitors, the opponents are fully aware of the dangers he poses. He’s expected to be defended at all times by at least two players from the backline, which significantly reduces his chances to score.
Bet365 only offers odds of 4/5 on AS Roma to win, but they accurately reflect the difference between the two teams at the moment. The home side is in great form and should be trusted to win the ninth consecutive game in Serie A.
