Slot Review: Hearts of Venice by WMSPublished January 31, 2020 by Elana K
The theme of WMS' new slot, Hearts of Venice, may be a little cheesy, but WMS tries to make up for it by including wilds, respins, and a free spins feature with extra wilds, mystery symbols, and retriggers.
Hearts of Venice from WMS is a romance-themed slot set against the famous canals of Venice. Che bello! The theme may be a little cheesy, but WMS tries to make up for it by including wilds, respins, and a free spins feature with extra wilds, mystery symbols, and retriggers. Hearts of Venice can be played at WMS casinos, both online and on mobile device.
Hearts of Venice is a 5x4 slot with 50 paylines. Bets range from $.40 to $500, quite a vast range. It’s medium-high variance and has a solid RTP of 96.12%
Symbols include roses, pillars, mastheads, statues, lanterns, bridges, gondola hats, gondolas, and gondoliers (see the common thread?). The highest-paying symbol is the lovely lady with the flower, which pays 5x your stake when 5 land on a payline. The Hearts of Venice logo acts as the wild and it can land anywhere except the first reel.
Hearts of Venice also includes a stacked heart symbol that can land anywhere during the base game. When it lands, it pops and turns into a different symbol. It’s a cute feature, but not worth that much in terms of wins.
Hot Hot Super Respin Mode
If a full stack of heart symbols land on reel 1, the Hot Hot Super Respin Mode is triggered. The stacked hearts and any wilds on the reels remain stuck in place, and 2 respins are awarded. If any hearts of wilds land during the respins, they also remain stuck in place. The hearts then transform into the same new symbol and the payout is recalculated.
When 3 scatters land on the reels, the Free Games feature is triggered. Players are awarded 10 free spins and extra heart symbols are added, which leads to more transforming symbols and a greater chance to trigger the Hot Hot Super Respin Mode. If 3 scatters land during the free spins, another set of 10 free spins is granted and players are guaranteed to walk away with a prize equal to at least 10x their stake.
Hearts of Venice is a nice idea, but WMS wasn’t overly creative with it. Still, the slot itself packs a few good punches, with the respins and free games making it an enticing option for recreational players. Even though there’s a high betting limit, high-rollers aren’t likely to be that impressed since the max win is 250x the stake per spin.
