It is almost time for the start of the La Liga regular season and a title defense by Real Madrid. Before the action begins, we have the opportunity to catch the two best teams in the Spanish league go head-to-head in the Super Cup second leg to see which team reigns supreme prior to opening day. Real have a serious advantage over Barcelona after winning a wild first match.
As it Happened
The first leg was a wild one. At times tempers flared and there were also some interesting calls by the officials. Real walked away as the winners at Camp Nou and no go back to Madrid as heavy favorites.
The first half of the first leg was not very eventful. All goals were scored in the second half, which unfortunately for Pique, started with an own-goal by him, giving Real a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute. Barcelona put on the pressure and it led to a Messi penalty goal against Navas in net, which evened the score 1-1. Things then got a bit weird as Ronaldo netted a goal in the 80th minute and during his celebration he removed his shirt, which led to his first yellow card and on the next play he was booked again for a dive (questionable at best), which led to his removal from the match. Asensio put the final nail in Barca's coffin in the 90th and now, Barcelona must win and win big at Real.
