Sporting Legends Embrace Online Poker, Gaming

Former sporting stars continue to embrace the world of online poker and gambling, with Brazilian football legend Ronaldo and German tennis hero Boris Becker featuring at gala evens.

Ronaldo Plays Poker

Ronaldo, who recently became a PokerStars brand ambassador, participated in an invitational tournament at the PokerStars European Poker Tour event in Spain. He played at the €5k "Phenomenon Table" free roll (Mesa de "el Fenómeno") against Spanish online poker stars and other Team PokerStars pros.

Team PokerStars representatives include Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal, Dutch Olympic hockey player Fatima Moreira de Melo and Swedish Winter Olympics gold medal skier Marcus Hellner. Like Ronaldo, they often participate in tournaments at which the winnings go to charity.

Becker to Open Conference

Six-time Grand Slam Champion, Olympic gold medallist and YouWin ambassador Becker has been active in the world of online gambling, and is set to continue that involvement when he opens the upcoming three-day European iGaming (EiG) Congress and Expo in Barcelona on October 8.

This annual event, which is being held for the 12 th time, features more than 100 industry leaders and 80 exhibitors, along with a busy program of events that includes specialist workshops, networking opportunities, tutorials, poker talks and CEO debates.
