SuperBowl Betting Frenzy: 1 In 10 Americans To Bet On The Super Bowl

Survey says, online Super Bowl betting set to bring in significant numbers, as the Patriots and the Rams set to tango.
Americans nationwide are set to break records on Super Bowl betting this year as the Championship game set to kick-off this Sunday at 23:30 GMT. The New England Patriots are seeking their sixth Super Bowl since 2002, while the Rams are seeking their second. The prospect of seeing Tom Brady hoist yet another trophy has caused quite a stir in the US gambling market as 1 in 10 American adults are planning to make a bet, or, have already made a bet on the big game.
One of the biggest factors leading to the record-breaking numbers that the US is seeing is that this year there are eight states that allow for legal online betting. According to the American Gaming Association, over $6 billion will be wagered on the game. The Patriots are slight favorites to win the game, but the Rams will see more punters wagering for them to win, with 52% of fans betting on them, while 48% will bet with the Pats.
Even though these numbers are high, it is important to remember that the results listed are a window into the legal gambling world, and, unfortunately, the illegal betting world, as 1.8 million Americans will bet with an illegal bookie, and others, in the millions will bet with some sort of offshore online bookmaker.
1 in 10 Americans translates to around 23 million people, which makes it more critical than ever for lawmakers to make new policies to protect punters across the country. The potential tax revenues and jobs that online gaming creates are massive, and it is a shame that the US is losing billions of dollars in cash due to old policies.
It should be a wild game as both teams are fired up to win in Atlanta. Super Bowl LIII will take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and it will be the first Super Bowl hosted at the stadium, which opened in 2017. Good luck to both teams and all punters planning to make a bet.
