The 85-year old Croat has cheated death 7 times, with each near-death experience being bone-chillingly unique in its own way.

A History of Cheating Death

In January 1962, Selak had his first near death experience when a train in which he was riding flipped off the tracks, crashing into a river. Selak survived the incident with a broken arm, while 17 other passengers drowned to death. A year later, Selak was amazingly sucked out of a malfunctioning door in a plane which was about to crash. Selak landed in a haystack, surviving, while the plane itself crashed, killing 19 passengers. From 1966 to 1973 Selak survived three more near-death encounters, one bus accident and two incidents where his car caught on fire.

The 1980s were safe for Selak, who almost met death again in 1995 when he was hit by a bus and survived, then in 1996 he fell off the road after missing a head-on collision with his car. In 2003, at last, Selak had some relief when he won about a million dollars in a Croatian lottery. It's important to state though that as of this date, none of Selak's claims have been independently verified.
