Who is going to run the show at the BBC now that the big boss has walked out? The bets are open.

O dear, o dear, o dear! The British Government and the bods at the Beeb are busy cleaning up an absolutely catastrophic mess. After airing a Newsnight program in which a former Thatcherite MP was incorrectly accused of paedophilia, the most senior members of the British Broadcasting Corporation are quickly filing out of their offices, tails between their legs.

A classic 'head-in-hands' moment, bang in the middle of what seems to be a wave of paedophilia hysteria taking seizing the UK. Not a pleasant business.

So now that Director General of the BBC, George Entwisle, has walked away from the post, only 54 days into the job, who is in the running to replace him?
