The First Copa America Quarterfinalists to be Decided on Saturday

The last Group A matches at Copa America take place on Saturday evening, with Peru and Venezuela hoping to join Brazil in the quarterfinals.

Brazil is the nation hosting Copa America and as expected, the South Americans have secured qualification to the quarterfinals. They will try to wrap up their group stage performance with another victory on Saturday evening against Peru. In the other match also played at 8 PM UK time, Peru and Venezuela will play for the second place. Earlier in the day, Chile and Ecuador are concluding the second match of Group C, one dominated by Uruguay with an iron fist.

Peru Prepares for a 90 Minute Siege against Brazil

Brazil are the only team that has home pitch advantage at the Copa America and also the main favorites to lift the trophy. With a starting formation packed with superstars and experienced players, it comes as no surprise that they get odds of 1/4 at bet365 Sports to defeat Peru. They did, however, struggle in the first half of the opening match against Bolivia and have scored all three goals in the second half. Bold punters can bet on a draw at half time in this match, as Peru is determined to defend with all lines for 90 minutes. Two out of the three teams finishing in the third-place during the group stage will reach the quarterfinals.

Bolivia and Venezuela Play their Last Cards

The allure of the third-place is going to provide the motivation that Bolivia and Venezuela need to come out firing on all cylinders. These are two teams that traditionally play defensive football regardless of venue, but things are going to change on Saturday night. Both are in dire need of points and are willing to take more chances upfront against opponents that have shown serious defensive weaknesses. Winner Sports regards Venezuela as favorites to win the match with odds of only 3/5. Bolivia, however, has the better head to head record in recent years, so the massive odds of 5/1 are worth considering.

Depleted Chile Seek Victory over Ecuador

Chile have emerged as one of the most successful teams in recent years at the Copa America. Under normal circumstances, they would’ve started with the same chance as you wait to win Group C. As it is, the high number of injuries and missing players took their toll on the team, but qualification isn’t in jeopardy. With the final match to be played against Uruguay, Chile will try to secure three precious points against Ecuador. 888 Sport expects them to succeed, as reflected by the odds of 9/10 on the reigning champions, while the underdogs are given odds of 4/1 to cause an upset.
