A lucky player from Canada has managed to find the rarest of rare cards, picking up CAD $20,000 in prize money for this find.
TonyBet's exciting World Cup Card Collection challenge has wrapped up in style, with a lucky player from Laurier-Station, Canada, finding the most valuable of rare cards - The Gold Card. For this achievement, the player in question picked up the largest individual prize of the entire promotion, netting CAD $20,000.
The promo, which ran alongside the world's biggest football tournament, featured a total of 51 cards. Of these, 48 represented participating nations, and there were three rare cards, Bronze, Gold, and Silver, thrown into the mix.
To get involved, players had to complete different challenges and unlock cards. Each individual card came with a bonus attached to it, and there was even more value to be had by completing different card tiers along the way.
An Exciting End to a Thrilling Campaign
The World Cup Card Collection promo kicked off on TonyBet just as the tournament got underway, giving all players something extra to look forward to. Every single card had a certain value attached to it, allowing players to exchange them for various bonuses to use on the site.
The three rare cards came with the biggest values, and they became available in stages. The Bronze Card was won early on, during the group stage. The Silver Card became available when the tournament moved to the knockout stage, and it was eventually claimed
by a lucky player from Ireland, who picked up €7,000 for their lucky find.
The Gold Card came into play during the semi-finals, and players could chase after it all the way through the end of the tournament. With only four teams remaining, it was an exciting final scramble worthy of the World Cup frenzy. The chase eventually came to an end with a lucky Canadian player finding the card to pick up CAD $20,000, the largest prize offered by this unique promotion.
Twists & Turns
In the PR announcing the big winner, Kiryl Liudvikevich, TonyBet's Head of Product, explained that, regardless of how much time they spent planning the campaign, they couldn't exactly predict what would happen at the World Cup, and this added an extra layer of excitement:
We designed the collection to evolve with the tournament, and every knockout round created new stories we couldn’t have predicted. Seeing players complete their collections and discovering who would uncover each prize was the most rewarding part of the campaign.
The promotional campaign was designed as a fun addition to the tournament, and the operator achieved its goal. Given the unpredictable nature of the tournament, TonyBet had to come up with new challenges on the fly, but their experienced team managed to rise to the occasion without any problems.
Although the top three prizes have now been claimed, TonyBet has decided to extend the promotion until July 31 so to give the players a chance to complete their card collections and claim any unclaimed prizes from the collected cards.
