Tottenham vs Chelsea: Match Preview, Prediction and Odds
Published January 4, 2017 by Sol FH
Chelsea with chance to set record for consecutive top flight wins in a single season, but the Hotspur stand in their way. Check out the action tonight at 20:00 GMT.
Chelsea sit at the top of the Premier League table with a chance to go eight points up over second place Liverpool with a win tonight at White Hart Lane. The Blues have won 13 consecutive top-flight matches so far this season and a win tonight would break the record for most consecutive wins in a single top flight season. The biggest thing standing in their way is the fact that they have only won one of their last 10 Premier League games at White Hart Lane with five draws and four losses with the win coming back in 2012.
Tottenham have only been able to beat the Blues four times in their last 49 matches against them. The Spurs lost at Stamford Bridge on the 26 of November, and if they lose tonight it would be the first league double since the 2005-2006 season. If the Spurs win or draw tonight they will have gone 10 home matches unbeaten for only the second time in team history. They are on a four match win streak and have scored 13 goals, while conceding only 3.
The Blues are at the top of their game right now and are at 49 points in just 19 games, which was a record previously held by, you guessed it, Chelsea back in 2005-06. They have won their last six away games allowing just one goal, including a 3-1 thrashing of Man. City just a couple weeks ago.
The top scorer for Chelsea on-the-road has been Diego Costa with seven goals in nine away games. He will be looking for his eighth tonight, but Tottenham will be a tough defense to crack, especially on home base.
Prediction
Chelsea is in excellent form and will have Pedro back in the lineup following his suspension. Expect Chelsea to prevail tonight 2-1.
Premier League Betting
bet365 Sports has dozens of betting markets ahead of tonight's match including outright odds in favor of the Blues by the slightest margin of 2.75 to the Spurs' 2.80. A draw could be a good bet at 3.30.
