Round-up of last night's Champions League group stage fixtures.
Last night saw an exciting round of Champions League group fixtures with a fair share of surprises, triumphs and disappointments. In Group H, Ajax wrote down a well deserved 2-1 over Barcelona with goals from Thulani and Hoesen for the Dutch. The match was also marked by an unfortunate incident when one Ajax fan suffered a serious injury falling down from the stand into the moat. The other match saw AC Milan triumph 3-0 over Celtic, eliminating the Scots from all European competitions.
In Group G, Porto and Austria Vienna's match concluded a 1-1 draw. A similar score was concluded between Zenit St Petersburg and Atletico Madrid. The highlight of the night was Borussia Dortmund's critical 3-1 victory over the disappointing Napoli. Dortmund remains in the Champions League contention after managing to outdo themselves following mediocre performances. Arsenal saw off Marseille with a 2-0, retaining their leadership of Group F.
In Group E, Basel took Chelsea with a 1-0 thanks to Striker Mohamad Salah, but the blues will still get to the knockout stages. Schalke and Steaua Bucharest ended in a dry nil-nil draw, eliminating the Romanians from the European competition.
