Second largest Mega Millions Jackpot ever.
Two Mega Millions lottery tickets holders have won the grand prize and will split $355 million, Mega Millions lottery officials said today. The prize is the second largest in Mega Millions' history, not far from the record US lottery jackpot of $390 million, which was won in March 2007.
The five winning Mega Millions numbers were: 4, 8, 15, 25 and 47. The "Mega ball" number was 42.
The winning ticket holders hail from Idaho and Washington state. They will each get $177.5 million.
US LotteryPlayers from 41 states and Washington, DC bought tickets for Tuesday night's drawing. The lottery is available across most of the USA. In fact, lottery players cross state borders (from Nevada and Utah into Arizona, for example), to buy Mega Millions tickets where they are sold. "Lost" AnecdoteHugo "Hurley" Reyes from the ABC television show "Lost" filled his own lottery ticket, and got four of the numbers right. His numbers were: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42.
Fans of the show who used these numbers on their own lottery tickets make up some of the 25,587 tickets that had three matching numbers and the bonus number on Tuesday. They each get $150 per ticket.
