Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 2: Preview And Odds
Published February 20, 2020 by Sol FH
The biggest heavyweight match of the year gets underway Sunday, February 23 around 4:00 GMT as Fury and Wilder face-off for the second time.
The Gypsy King and The Bronze Bomber will go toe-to-toe at MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 23 (Saturday, Feb. 22 in the US) in front of a sold-out crowd and millions watching from home. This is the most anticipated fight of 2020 and is one of the highest-profile heavyweight rematch fights of all time.
The Greatest 'Almost' Comeback of All-Time
The first fight ended in a draw, after a miraculous event that shocked the boxing world. It was the final round and it looked like Fury might win the fight when Deontay Wilder threw a devastating right hook followed by a left hand that sent Fury to the canvas. He was out. His eyes looked as if he wouldn't get up, at least not in time for the referee's 10-count. As the count reached seven, Fury somehow began to lift his 6 ft 9 body to his feet and by 9, he had looked the ref in the eye and said he was ready to carry on. The Gypsy King had done it. Survived one of the biggest knockdowns in the history of boxing and was able to hold on for the rest of the round to force a judge's decision - a draw.
Now, a year and a little of two months later the rematch will take place with Wilders WBC crown, as well as Fury’s ‘lineal’ status and the Ring Magazine heavyweight title on the line.
Both fighters are still undefeated, with Fury at 29-0-1 and Wilder at 42-0-1, with 20 knockouts and 41 knockouts respectively, but none of that is important. Fury was the underdog in the first bout with the odds stacked against him, but somehow he held on, and some even say that he should have won the fight.
