UEFA Champions League Quarterfinal: Preview, Odds, And Prediction
Published April 9, 2019 by Sol FH
Leg 1 of the Champions League Quarterfinals gets underway Tuesday evening at 20:00 GMT with two immense matches.
The final eight teams are finally set to go head-to-head in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. What an incredible road it has been to get here, and with the caliber of football we have seen until now, it should make these final stages that much more impressive. The first two ties will be played Tuesday Night, and you'd better get a couple of screens because they will both kick-off at 20:00 GMT.
Tuesday Night Matches
Tottenham vs. Manchester City
In all likeliness, the only outcome that is expected of Tottenham after 90-minutes would be a draw. The way that these teams have been playing lately should be the tale of the tape. The last time that City lost a match was back on January 29 and has since won games like the 7-0 romping of Schalke in the last round of the Champions League. They have been unstoppable and showing no signs of weakness. Tottenham has only won one of their last five matches in the Premier League, and, only beat Dortmund 1-0 in the last round.
Prediction: City will be on full attack to win this away game and better themselves for the home match in the second leg. Even as the visiting team, City are the favorites for a big win and a good guess would be a 3-1 for them. Bet365 Sports is right on track with that prediction and has set odds in favor of City at 1.83, while the Hotspur have a long night ahead of them at 4.33.
Liverpool vs. Porto
Another great match for those that choose to tune in. The Premier League leaders, Liverpool, host an exciting team from Porto, who are really facing their first "major" threat in this year's tournament. The Reds have won four of their last five in the Premier League, and, knocked out Bayern Munich in the last round of the Champions League with a 3-1 away win. Porto, on the other hand, faced Roma in the last round and won barley on aggregate goals. It doesn't seem like the Porto really has much of a chance other than to play for a draw. For a draw, bet365 Sports will reward punters with odds at 6.00. For an outright Porto win it is 11.00, but, for Liverpool, it is as good as done at 1.30.
Wednesday Night Matches
Ajax vs. Juventus
Christiano Ronaldo is playing like his usual self in top form. All three of Juventus' last goals in the Champions League were scored by #7. They took out Atletico Madrid in the last round, and it was an incredible match. They are set to take the Serie A again this year, and Ronaldo is the reason why. Ajax is a tricky team; they always seem to be able to find a way to win in the most crucial times, but, tonight they face a very strong Juventus team with a healthy roster. bet365 Sports is all over this one with competitive odds in favor of the visiting team at 2.20 for the Italians. Ajax is at 3.60 ahead of the match.
Manchester United vs. Barcelona
Probably the most anticipated match of the quarterfinal will be played at Old Trafford. United hosting Barcelona is as Champions League as it gets. Two greats going head to head and either team could walk away with the win. Although, a draw does seem most-likely for this match. Barcelona leads La Liga, while United are trying to claw out of sixth place in the Premier League. bet365 Sports does like Barca for this one at 2.05, but, United typically plays very well at Old Trafford even though the odds are set at 3.80.
