UK Gambling License Awarded to Betdigital

Betdigital has just acquired a UK gambling license in readiness for the new regulations coming into force on 1st October 2014. The company is a UK-based online games developer who have released slots titles such as Fantastic Fruits and Shamrock Surprise to much acclaim. 

Betdigital Remote Gambling License

Due to changes in UK laws, all casinos catering to UK residents, must hold a license in the UK, and pay taxes to the British government. The laws come into force in October 2014, although the deadline for compliance has been extended to January 2015 to give all operators time to meet the regulations. The law change is designed to move the taxation of gambling from 'the place of supply' (commonly Gibraltar, Cyprus or Malta), to 'the place of consumption, (such as the UK and Ireland.)

Operators must gain a license by next January or cease operations in the UK, and Oxford based Betdigital have taken the initiative and met the requirements well before the deadline. Other operators who have complied with the changes include NXY Gaming, Play n' Go, Scientific Games and Realistic Games.

Betdigital applied for, and was granted, a Core Service Provider Associate certificate and a Remote Gambling Software Operating license from the Alderney Gambling Commission which will allow them to transition smoothly to the new rules.
