Two lucky winners share the second biggest jackpot in US lottery history.

Finally after a long series of roll-overs, the U.S. Mega Millions $636 million jackpot was won last night's draw. While the identity of the winners has not been disclosed, it became known that one winning ticket was purchased at a gift shop in San Jose, California and the other one at a convenience store in Atlanta, Georgia. The winning numbers were: 8, 14, 17, 20, 39 and 7 as the bonus number.

Second Biggest Jackpot in US History

This win signals the second biggest jackpot ever won in the a US lottery, with "only" $20 million dividing it from the record $656 million prize won in the U.S. Mega Millions in March 2012. Tuesday's jackpot swelled following a spike in sales during the last weekend after no winner claimed the $400 million draw which took place Friday the 13 th . In Florida alone $8k worth of tickets was sold in the frame of one hour. The two winners can choose between being paid over time or to receive $170 million in cash.
