To say that Novak Djokovic has had a difficult road to the US Open Quarterfinals would be crazy. The Serb has only needed to play seven full sets of tennis to make it to the final eight after his second-round opponent withdrew from the competition and the opponent in the third round ran away after only six games. This is the best possible situation for Djokovic, as many critics were worried that his health is simply not good enough to win the tournament, but having being able to rest much more than any other player at the Open, Djokovic looks to end Jo Wilfried Tsonga's hopes of making the Semi Finals.
Djokovic and Tsonga are no strangers. The Serb has gotten the best of the Frenchman 11 times, while Tsonga has one only once. In fact, Tsonga has not been able to win a major tournament since Toronto in 2014. The world No. 11 is struggling with inconsistency and hasn't found the rhythm that he had back in 2011 and 2012, which were relatively big seasons for him.
Tonight, don't expect many surprises. After Djokovic ended Great Britain's Kyle Edmunds' hopes of advancing 6-2, 6-1, 6-4, the Serb has proved that he is still healthy and still very much in control of his own destiny. Djokovic's biggest test will be in the finals where he will most-likely meet Andy Murray, but until then he should beat all the competition en route.
