US Open Quarterfinals: Preview and Betting Odds

Nadal, Del Potro, Djokovic, and Cilic, are favored to win and move onto the semifinals. Catch Del Potro vs. Isner today at 18:30 GMT.

The US Open is getting down to the nitty-gritty and has finally reached its quarterfinal round. After a surprising round of 16, which saw Roger Federer knocked out of contention, the quarterfinal draws are set, and there should be some incredible action to watch from Arthur Ashe Stadium. The first matchup will take place today at 18:30 GMT between third-ranked Argentinian Juan Martin Del Potro, and the American John Isner.

Del Potro vs. Isner

The number 1 ranked American player John Isner looks good so far in the US Open. He is playing aggressive tennis on his return, and his powerful serve has been the backbone of his game as usual. They have met eleven times so far with the Argentinian winning on seven occasions, but the 33-year-old Isner has the home advantage. Isner did have a marathon of a match against Canadian Milos Raonic in the last round which could play a factor in today's match, but this could be the time to bet on the upset.

At bet365 Sports the odds for the outright winner are in favor of Del Potro at 1.28, while Isner comes in at 3.75.

Nadal vs. Thiem - Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1:30 GMT

World #1 Rafael Nadal is en route to continuing his US Open title-defense but must make it past the dangerous ninth seed Dominic Thiem. The Austrian Thiem is competing in his first non-clay Grand Slam quarterfinal, and the experience advantage lies with Nadal. The Spaniard has had yet another dominating year with an 11th French Open and won in Toronto, Rome, and Monte Carlo. This will be the eleventh meeting between the two and Nadal leads 7-3 so far. Thiem has beaten Nadal three times this year, but their last meeting at Roland Garros went to Nadal in straight sets.

Nadal has the advantage at Betfair Sports at 1.27 over Thiem at 3.80, but if Thiem plays a solid match, he could beat Nadal.

Cilic vs. Nishikori - Wednesday, Sept. 5, 16:00 GMT

Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori are set to go to battle for the fifteenth time tomorrow afternoon in the third quarterfinal. Nishikori is feeling fresh and confident coming off a straight-sets win over Philipp Kohlschreiber that took only 17 games to decide. After an injured wrist took time to heal, Nishikori made the quarterfinals at Wimbledon earlier this year and hopes on taking it to the next stage at the US Open. Cilic also won his round of 16 match against David Goffin in 31-games, and his first serve was the driving force behind his victory.

As for 888 Sport, the sportsbook likes Nishikori in this one at 1.61, but Cilic is not far behind at 2.32.

Djokovic vs. Millman - Wednesday, Sept. 5, 16:00 GMT

Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic takes on surprise victor John Millman after the Australian shocked the world and beat Roger Federer. Whatever it was that propelled Millman onto the quarterfinal, he had better hope it stays the same because Djokovic is on fire after a huge win over Joao Sousa in the round of 16.

bet365 Sports is paying out big for another Millman win at 11.00, but Djokovic will likely get the win at 1.062.
