Maria Sharapova is back, and she means business. The Russian all-star just got back after her 2016 doping ban, but instantly shocked the tennis world in the Round of 128 at this year's US Open by dominating the World No. 2 Simona Halep. She now has her second round match against Hungarian, Timea Babos live at Arthur Ashe stadium, and the action should be intense as Sharapova makes her comeback into the WTA.
Sharapova was definitely not at 100% form in her first match against the Romanian Halep, but the fact that she was still able to dominate the match should be a sign of what is to come for the rest of the field. Sharapova may be the only player in the tournament that could challenge favorite, Garbine Muguruza.
Babos on the other hand overcame the Swiss Viktorija Golubic in three sets. At 24-years old, Babos looks to be just getting hold of her career, having won her second career title earlier this year in Budapest, but has since not been able to qualify for a final four finish over the next 16 tournaments.
This will be the first match between Sharapova and Babos, and the latter will surely be shocked to be playing in front of such a big crowd expected to be behind Sharapova.
