Videoslots.com Disputes €10 Million Fine Imposed by Dutch Regulator

Online casino Videoslots.com is contesting the largest fine in the history of the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa) after accusing the Dutch regulator of acting unlawfully. The Ksa imposed a €9,874,000 fine after claiming Videoslots.com violated the Dutch Gaming Act. However, Videoslots.com denies the allegation and has objected to the fine, stating that the Dutch Gaming Act does not apply to its services.

The legal battle between Videoslots.com and the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa) continues to rage in the Netherlands. The Ksa imposed a staggering €9,874,000 fine on the online casino, which Videoslots.com is disputing as being the largest in the regulator's history.

The Ksa accused Videoslots.com of violating the Dutch Gaming Act after the casino's logo was mistakenly visible on its website. Videoslots.com has maintained that the Dutch Gaming Act does not apply to its services and that the Ksa unlawfully abused the mystery shopping regime.

The Ksa attempted to register as a Dutch player when it discovered its logo on Videoslots.com, but the casino's measures prevented it. Undeterred, the Ksa gained unauthorized access by pretending to be a German customer, depositing just 20 cents and placing a single bet.

Videoslots.com responded by implementing additional measures to prevent unauthorized access from taking place in the future.

Netherlands Not Targeted: Compliance is Key

Ulle Skottling, Videoslots.com's Deputy CEO, stressed that the casino does not target the Netherlands but only restricts its services. As a result, the Dutch Gaming Act does not apply. Skottling also stated that no Dutch players accessed the website during the disputed period, and there was no violation. He accused the Ksa of lacking guidelines on the measures necessary to prevent unauthorized access.

The casino believes that the Ksa's fine calculation was based on several guesses, and there was no appreciable or visible damage. Skottling emphasized that the interests and safety of Dutch consumers were never compromised. While Videoslots.com takes legal and regulatory obligations seriously, it disputes Ksa's actions and conclusions. The casino is confident of a favourable outcome in the case.
