Viva La Gambling!

Italy Seen as Future of European Betting Industry. Italy is considered the next hub for online casinos according to a recent study of the Italian gambling industry.

A recent analysis of the Italian gambling industry shows that Italy is considered a leading country in Europe regarding legislation and regulation. The report, entitled, The Italian Gambling Market - a Forerunner in the Liberalization of European Gambling Markets, put out by the consulting firm, MECN, showed that Italys recent liberalization of its gambling industry guaranteed revenue of over 60-billion Euros by the year 2010. Scores of top casino operators and others connected to the industry were interviewed for their insight and experience for the report.

Why is Italy such a draw card for the gambling sector? It seems that ever since the success in the Placanica case and the large tender for gambling licenses offered by the Italian government to operators around the world, attention has been directed to this country and many foresee a rosy future for its gambling industry. Top players in the industry were drawn to Italy when the countrys authorities issued 14,000 new betting licenses to operators in the online and traditional wagering sectors. Italy hopes to replenish its empty coffers through taxation of these gambling operations and also revive its economy through the growth of the industry.

It seems that all eyes remain on Italy as it moves towards a new phase of liberalization in the coming years. International operators already feel that Italy will play a major part in the future of their businesses and the rise in popularity of online gambling throughout the globe will definitely impact the Italian market as a whole.
