What are the Odds of a White Easter?Published March 25, 2013 by OCR Editor
Freezing winter weather has online sportsbooks slashing odds on snowy end to month.
With snow falling over many parts of the United Kingdom and the winter chill staying strong across much of Europe, online sportsbooks are slashing prices on the prospects of a white Easter holiday period.
Easter weather betting
William Hill has cut the price of a white Easter day in London from its original 16/1 down to a firm 10/1. Cardiff his also a 10/1 shot, Belfast is 8/1, while Edinburgh is down to its shortest price ever at 6/1. Hill is also offering 2/1 odds that a freezing temperature of below 0 is recorded somewhere on Great Britain at any stage on Easter Day.
True to form, Hill has released a number of fun specials for punters to place a wager on: the prospect of Parliament being closed by Health & Safety because of ice or snow before the end of April is now 20/1, while it will pay out 50/1 if Big Ben fails to chime for weather reasons during that same period.
Odds of 8/1 are being offered on the lowest recorded temperature in England, Wales or Scotland being broken before April 30.
William Hill online sportsbook is known as the place for specials betting, and for good reason. Head in there now, and you can take a punt on a host of options including which country will be first to pull out of the euro (Cyprus is new favourite), Eurovision Song Contest and BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
There is also plenty for the TV fans, with betting on the results of X Factor, The Voice, American Idol and Dancing with the Stars.
