William Hill opens one of the more bizarre betting markets of recent times
Following the news that Michael Jackson's ghost has given testimony in the Jackson v AEG lawsuit in the US, a leading online sportsbook is now asking if the same thing could happen in the UK.
Jacko Ghost Testifies
Michael Jackson died a number of years ago, but he returned to testify at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in order to clear Dr Conrad Murray, when AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips claimed Jacko had appeared from beyond the grave to confirm that his death was an accident.
A Jackson family lawyer objected with the reasonable argument that this was triple hearsay - he said Phillips was relaying a conversation with Lionel Richie's ex Brenda, who had spoken to a medium who allegedly contacted Jacko. Bizarrely, the judge overruled this and allowed the testimony with poor old Jacko to stand.
Will He Appear Again?
William Hill Sports is known for delivering betting on a wide range of bizarre scenarios, and the folks at this leading online sportsbook couldn't help opening a market here - they are offering 25/1 odds on a judge in a British Court one day accepting sworn testimony as evidence from a ghost or medium communicating with a ghost.
"We had to double check that it was not April Fool's Day," Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said of the betting market. "The good news is that we don't think a British judge will be accepting similar evidence any time soon."
