William Hill slash price on William and Kate's kid being born early
Do a few punters know something about the royal baby that we don't know? Quite possibly, if William Hill's reduction on the price of a June birth is any indication.
Early Royal Baby?
William Hill Sports slashed the price of a royal baby arriving in June from 12/1 down to 8/1 following a number of large bets on Thursday night and Friday morning. A spokesman for the online sportsbook said they still believe the due date is in July but that they could not ignore the big betting on June.
Hill is still offering betting on each of the 31 days in July, with July 17 remaining the 9/1 favorite. As for June and August, punters can't place wagers on individual days, but can place a general bet on the baby being born in either month. June is now 8/1, while August is a more unlikely 14/1.
And What About the Name?
OCR readers would already know that punters have being going crazy over potential royal baby names. All sorts of names have been speculated about by the online sportsbooks and British tabloids, and there is a particularly high amount of uncertainty given that it's still not known if the baby is a boy or a girl.
The updated William Hill odds on their first child's name are: Alexandra, 7/4, Elizabeth, 5/1, Diana, 11/2, Victoria, 6/1, Mary, 10/1, and George 14/1. There are dozens of other names on the market, with some of the outsiders being: Chardonnay, 25/1, Wayne or Waynetta, 250/1, and Klay (after Wayne Rooney's kid), 10,000/1.
