Who Will Surprise in England Manager Betting?

Harry Redknapp remains favourite to replace Fabio Capello as national team boss.

Harry Redknapp is the obvious favourite to replace Fabio Capello as the next England football manager, but could there be a surprise in store for those placing a wager on the situation at online sportsbooks?

Redknapp to Replace Capello?

The British press immediately anointed Tottenham manager Redknapp as the next manager last Wednesday, drawing links between his acquittal on charges of tax evasion on the exact same day as Capello's resignation. Redknapp's "not guilty" decision followed a two-week trial and five years of investigations.

Italian Capello announced his resignation from the national team just a few days after he publicly challenged the Football Association's decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy pending Terry's trial in July over alleged racial abuse of Queens Park Rangers' Anton Ferdinand.

Sportsbook Odds

Spaniard Pep Guardiola has been shortened from 50/1 to 10/1 third favorite to become the next England boss, after his team Barcelona lost weekend to fall 10 points behind Read Madrid in La Liga and strengthen speculation that Guardiola could be on his way out at the Nou Camp.

William Hill's odds for next permanent England manager are as follows: Redknapp, 4/11, Stuart Pearce, 6/1, Guardiola, 10/1, Guus Hiddink, 11/1, Roy Hodgson, 12/1, Jose Mourinho, 14/1, Martin O'Neill, 20/1, Arsene Wenger, 25/1, and Rafa Benitez, 33/1.
