Will We See a Pacquiao vs Mayweather Rematch?Published November 19, 2016 by Sol FH
Pacquiao hints at rematch with Floyd Mayweather on Instagram and instantly has fans salivating for action.
The first time that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao met was one of the most highly anticipated matches in recent history. Fans wanted it so bad, but unfortunately, the fight ended in an easy decision for Mayweather and it was one of the most disappointing to watch. Now, with hundreds of millions of dollars up for grabs and Mayweather with a shot to set a new boxing unbeaten record of 50-0, the choice could be easier than you think.
There may be more truth to the rematch, as Mayweather visited the Thomas & Mack Center to watch Pacquiao beat up on Jessie Vargas by a unanimous decision. The Filipino fighter is still in excellent shape and has even hinted that the fight is closer than imagined as he flashed a photo on Instagram with pictures of himself and of Mayweather stitched inside of his jacket. Why would he want a rematch? Let's just say that they would both be up for over $100 million.
In the first fight, promoters charged fans $100 for the pay-per-view event, but that would not be the case the second time round. Mayweather made a staggering $250 million in the first fight, while Pacquiao made $150 for taking a 12-round beating. Mayweather probably thinks that he could win the fight again, which would create some incredible odds ahead of the bout.
What would the odds be?
Pay-per-view companies wouldn't be able to charge $100 for the rematch after the anti-climactic first fight, but punters would be all over the odds. Certainly Pacquiao would be a huge underdog to beat Mayweather, but if the fight has some surprises like a Mayweather knock out, you can bet that the payday on a wager like that would be massive. In the event of a rematch, odds posted directly following the announcement would be the most attractive. As more details come in the odds fluctuate but getting in as early as possible would definitely mean a better payout.
