Wimbledon 2015: A Quarter Final Berth on the LinePublished July 6, 2015 by Sol FH
Number 1 ranked Novak Djokovic looks to advance to the Quarter Finals, but faces Kevin Anderson today at 17:00 GMT.
They have not met since 2012, but that all changes at 17:00 on Wimbledon Centre Court, as Novak Djokovic plays Kevin Anderson in the fifth round of Wimbledon. This game will determine which of these players advances to the Quarter Final, and that much closer for a chance at some real hardware.
They have met five times in all and Djokovic has beaten Anderson 4-1 in those matchups.
Djokovic is looking his regular amazing self, easily taking out the competition that he has faced so far this year. He beat Bernard Tomic in straight sets to get here and hit 38 winners during the one hour and 34 minutes of play.
Djokovic is amazing at Wimbledon and looks to bounce back to his winning self after losing at the Roland Garros just a few weeks ago. “I think I executed tactically everything I intended before the match to move him around the court, mix up the pace, not really give him the same look. I think overall I played a really, really good match,” he related.
Anderson comes in with a 14th overall ranking and beat Leonardo Mayer in straight sets, but needed a tie-break in the second set to hold him off. Anderson hit 51 winners and 22 aces in the game that took a bit longer at two hours and fifteen minutes. The South African will need to be on his best game to beat Novak but it is something that could definitely happen.
