Wimbledon Live Betting: Murray v. BeckerPublished June 24, 2013 by OCR Editor
Second seed Murray faces Benjamin Becker some time after 430pm local time today.
British number one Andy Murray will face a familiar foe when he takes to the court later today to begin his quest for the 2013 Wimbledon crown - Germany's Benjamin Becker, the same man he beat in the quarter-finals of the warm-up tournament in Queen's last week.
Andy Murray was placed on the horror side of the Wimbledon draw and faces the daunting task of a semi-final match up with Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer if he can get that far. But first he will have to get past Becker, possibly facing Tommy Robredo and Janko Tsiparevic in the third and fourth rounds, and a likely quarter-final clash against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The Scot will take to the court no earlier than 430pm local time today, although it could be even later if the first two matches on Center Court last longer than expected. Prior to Murray-Becker, Federer plays Romanian Victor Hanescu, and Maria Sharapova plays Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic in a ladies' singles match.
Murray is an almost unbackable favorite in William Hill's pre-match betting, entering the match as 1/100 favorite while Becker is 16/1. However, upsets have been known to happen in the first round, which is why Hill's other betting options - such as Set Betting, Correct Score and Scorecasts are such good value.
Hill is offering 4/1 on Murray to win Wimbledon, level with Nadal and behind only tournament favorite Novak Djokovic, 6/5. The online sportsbook is encouraging punters to get behind the Brit, promising money back on all Murray to win Wimbledon wagers if he fails to make the semi-finals.
William Hill Sports will be offering in-play betting on every men's singles and ladies' singles match throughout Wimbledon, starting Monday and including Murray v. Becker. Place a live bet on the result of Murray-Becker or on game-by-game and set-by-set scenarios, as odds are updated with each point.
