World Regulatory Briefing Eastern Europe Summary

The WrB Eastern Europe conference took place on December 2^nd in Bucharest, Romania and it saw about 100 decision-makers attending the event. These included representatives from local and international law-makers, suppliers, operators and finance companies who attended the one-day conference for the chance to network, share ideas, learn about the regulations and talk about the different challenges found in the market.

Expert speakers for regulations

With more than 50 organizations from over 20 countries being represented at the large conference, the speakers had a lot of information to cover and the event was a huge success.

Some of the notable speakers who got the attention of the crowd include the Romanian Nation Gambling Office president, Odeta Nestor, the Licensing Chief for the Division of Law Department in Latvia, Tereza Cejpovaand Janis Laganovskis, and the head of new games at the Ministry of Finance in the Czech Republic, Tereza Cejpova.

Along with other important regulators in the CEE region, the experts were presented with the latest news and developments in the emerging markets.

The Bulgarian Gaming Association chairman, Angel Iribozov, covered some key issues from his native country and presented a view of the progress made in the market. He also went on to present an outline of the strategy used in Bulgaria when it comes problem gambling. The regulations regarding this issue were passed in 2015.

Organized by Clarion Events, the WrB Eastern Europe conference gave the regulators the opportunity to present the new rules in the markets. The event director stated that plans for the event to come back next year are already in place.

The series now continues with WrB Africa, scheduled to take place in spring next year in Nigeria and which will look at the regulations in the growing market. WrB will also be present at the ICE Totally Gaming conference.
